ABSTRACT
A report in Wildlife Research, that koalas are extinct in most of the Eden region as a result of climate change, logging and clearing, is mistaken. Its recommendation, that logging should cease in a climate refuge where, supposedly, the last koalas persist, has been adopted by Government. Koalas are unlikely to benefit. It would be better to conduct radiotracking studies of koalas in this area and in the wider region to inform their future management.
